Sponsor a seat – What’s that?

For those of you who are not aware, the Royal Manor Theatre has operated a ‘sponsor a seat’ scheme for many years. On the back of some of the auditorium seats, there are brass plaques. These have been purchased by either members of the public, or local businesses offering support to the theatre. They contain an inscription of their choosing.

What would I want one of them for?

Some people have purchased a plaque in memory of a loved one. Many people have also had a plaque fitted to a seat of their choice, as a donation to the theatre in general. Local businesses have shown their dedication and support to local community organisations by purchasing a plaque.

Why is it called a sponsored seat?

Well, there’s a charge for each plaque. You choose a seat that has not yet had one fitted, and pay for it. You’re actually sponsoring the seat, and supporting the theatre at the same time.

What inscription can I have?

A typical example would simply say something like…

‘This seat was donated by Mr & Mrs E Doe’.

How much does it cost?

A plaque costs just £50, as it’ll be there forever! If the seats are replaced, your plaque will be transferred to the replacement.
